Morehead-Cain Class of 2021

St. Lazarus Behavioral Health PC. in Charlotte, North Carolina is proud to unanimously award the St. Lazarus Person of the Year for 2017 to Ms. Ruth Etiesit Samuel. She was recently admitted to the Morehead-Cain Graduating Class of 2021.


Founded in 1945 at the first public university in the United States, Morehead-Cain was the first merit scholarship program established in the country. It was inspired by the Rhodes Scholarship at Oxford University and provides an undergraduate experience without peer. (To learn more about the scholarship, check out the links below.)


Ms. Ruth Etiesit Samuel was born at the King's College Hospital in London, England in June 1999. She attended First Presbyterian Day School in Macon, Georgia where she graduated with Honors with Distinction and gained a STEM endorsement in 2017.


Ruth accepted her Morehead-Cain Foundation Scholarship over admissions to notable universities. These include Dartmouth, Cornell, Columbia, Duke, and the Universities of Michigan, Virginia, among others.
